Frequently Asked Questions
Can I wash my scarf?
Yes, of course! I suggest washing your silk scarf in cool water using a mild detergent such as dish liquid. Rinse the soap from the fabric under the water until no soap runs off of the fabric. Gently squeeze a bit of the water out of the fabric then wrap the scarf in a towel to absorb the majority of the water. Hang on the line to dry.
Can I iron my silk scarf?
Yes. Iron your silk scarf as needed using the low temperature setting as indicated for silk on your iron.
I washed my scarf and some dye was released into the water, should I be concerned?
No worries. I hand wash each scarf before it is packaged however there is a chance that a small amount of dye will release from the fibers. Have no fear, the colors will retain their luster and beauty.
I love my wearable art, can I display it in my home?
Yes, show it off for all to see! However, keep the silk out of direct sunlight to avoid having the colors fade.
Can I have a custom piece created for a special occasion?
Definitely! I love working on collaborative pieces and I enjoy being part of bringing an idea into being. Please feel free to contact me.
Are there additional sizes and types of silk available?
Yes. Occasionally, I will list a different width or a square piece, or one painted on chiffon, crepe de chine or a heavier weight silk. The majority of the work sold online is painted on 8x54" or 11x60" 8mm habotai silk. If you are searching for a specific size and type of silk please contact me and together we can determine if I can help you by creating what you have in mind.
Do you really paint every scarf?
YES, painting on silk brings me incredible joy and I love every minute of the process.
Do you only paint on silk?
A drawing pencil has been in my hand for well over 50 years. Since 2001 I have been painting on a regular basis, however, it was a shabori dying class at our local library 12 years ago that "rocked my world" and sparked my passion for painting on silk.
